Extreme Adventure on its 5th Season

By: Sis Marie Navacilla (SFL-Abu Dhabi)

Many of us have been fans of The Amazing Race – a highly rated American reality competition show from few years back. And the Extreme Adventure activity of CFFL-SFL, held last January 29, is broadly about that.. And more! Because it didn’t just require physical strength, but also mental and, believe it or not, spiritual (imagine writing down all the mysteries of the Holy Rosary!). The race was split into 12 legs or stations, each with a certain challenge that should be completed as fast as possible, because the team with the least time to complete all the challenges wins. The Service team was headed by Bro Rusty and Sis Stacy, and consists of the game masters – one or two at each station, and special agents – one at each team. Few of the game’s rules are the prohibition of the use of GPS or any gadget, and the use of transportation other than the public bus, which made the game more exciting.

The activity was started with a prayer for guidance and safety. Afterwards, each team started to warm up as they anticipate the challenges that they might face throughout the competition. Each team has their own strategies, building camaraderie regardless of the differences and weaknesses of each member.

At the end of the competition, the winners were decided as follows, based on the time the challenges were all completed:

  • 5th Runner Up – Pink Team
  • 4th Runner Up – Green Team
  • 3rd Runner Up – Blue Team
  • 2nd Runner Up – Orange Team
  • 1st Runner Up – Red Team
  • Champion – Yellow Team

Special awards were also given to deserving winners, as follows: Mr. Cool – Bro Noel, Cool Girl – Sis Ella, and Early Bird – Bro Miller, all from Yellow Team; Best Dressed – DK from Green Team; U Complete Me – Green Team; and Most Competitive Team – Pink Team.

The activity was then concluded with a sumptuous boodle fight lunch that the brothers and sisters in Christ savored together. It was indeed a very tiring, but at the same time, a very fulfilling day for every participant and the service team. It was not just a competition. It was a fellowship. And through this, may God be praised!
