Psalms: 71:23 My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto thee; and my soul with thou hast redeemed.

By: Sis Marylou Ugad (SFL Abu Dhabi)

Thank God for the choir as they sing

Each Saturday morning as their voices ring

Peace and love in our heart we feel

We know our God is great and He is real

The sound of angels, that’s how they sing

Saturday mornings, as their voices ring

The words and music that we hear

Lift our hearts as we know God is near

We leave the care of the world behind

To God we open our heart and mind

We let Him come in, our sins he forgive

He renews our strength and helps us live

The talent, He has given to us

It may not be the talent we chose

But if it’s the thing we do best

Then we should share it with the rest

Pag-ibig

Kahit di diligin, to’y kusang tumutubo,

Pagibig naway lagi kang Manahan

Pagibig ng Dyo’s Ama,  huwag nating kalimutan

A Loving God

By: Sis Rei Moises (SFL Abu Dhabi)

A Loving God

My innocence got me believe in You
My growth separates me from You
Where I am no longer hearing You
Where beliefs turns into doubt about You
You gave me life to see the beauty of Your creations
You have given me everything all I ever needed
Yet all is not enough to feel Your love
Yet I am searching for something different
In times of frustrations I turn to You
In times of losing hope I run to You
You never failed to comfort me
You always give me reasons to live
Now, here I am, broken and losing
Lost in searching for everything that is nothing
Broken of fighting for the wrong doing
And there You are, embraced me with Your love.

That, so-called-journey

We always contemplate that life is just a journey,
A road to travel and diversify consistently.
Yes it is a journey, but to what point-of-array?
Are you heading to right track in your way?
Give yourself a rupture to nap and think.
Seize that glance on your side without a blink.
For the beauty of journey sees from within,
Never get struck for some cliché that’s hidden,
Rather stand stiff, aloud and breakthrough,
For God is with you, to guide and protect you through.

Maraming balakid, at kapaligirang magulo

Pathway

by: Bro. Eze Ifeanyichukwu Peter (SFL Al Ain)

The

Door whines on its hinges as you open. It whines louder and shuts. When will you apply the grease? Tomorrow? Yesterday, you said today.

Today

You don’t know what to do with yourself. Are you looking for an Oasis in the desert of your day?

Your

Inside whizzes. Blank. You shamble across to the bookshelf. You don’t take any of the books, but peer at the titles. War and Peace. Critique of Pure Reason. Love in the Time of Cholera. The Famished Road. You Must Set Forth at Dawn. There was Country. Meditations.

You

Stop. Enough. And the writing desk? No. You don’t want to face the blank sheet today. Yesterday, after an hour, you couldn’t write a befitting first sentence.

You

Loll on the settee. The foam sinks loyally under you, and a whiff of dusty air wafts along. You exhale. Noisily. As though you just remembered your breath.

Then

You dig into your memory. For a joke. It is faded like an old flag. You pull another one. A conversation. It is frayed and craggy.

Now

What do you want to do? Talk to someone. Who? Anyone? You sigh. It comes off like a whisper to someone who is not there. Ah, anything but this silence staring at you. You look away. At nothing.

Your

Phone is dead. Power bank too. Power supply came last three days. What now? The 60 watts bulb flickers some weak glow of yellow. It goes off. Your nascent smile dies.

Loneliness

Tickles you at the sides. You twitch with displeasure. It giggles. Your head bangs echoes of wordlessness. You squint a frown. Oh. You roll and roll. Your hands are fidgety. You give them to your teeth. The nails crack, tack, tack. Then you begin to twiddle your toes.

A

Voice has been speaking. It is still speaking. You don’t want to hear. But you can’t hear anything else. Thin. Loud. Hush. All at once.

Humming like a steady din.

“Hey, I am here. I have brought you to this sphere by removing all attractions and distractions, so that you can focus on me. Every other thing will be fine.

“I. Am. God,” it says again.

Angels

By: Eleanor Llanes (HFL Dubai)

Tears may fall every night

There is hope, just hold on tight

Angels are there to give you light

They’re beside you even out of sight

When you are feeling down

You’re still a princess who wears the crown

Please always smile and do not frown

Angels will make you happy and send you a clown

Dangers are always on the way

Do not be afraid and just pray Angels will save you everyday

Will keep you bright even skies are gray

Time may come that you will worry

Decision making should not be a hurry

Be calm and and do not feel sorry

God’s angel will make you merry.

Magpapasko Na Naman

#ThePoeticSide

by: Bro. Marc Francis Leal (SFL Dubai)
